At a time when we keep hearing about marketing cutbacks, the announcement of a big new ad campaign from Kimberly-Clark for their Depend brand is remarkable. The campaign launches today and runs through December across a variety of media – TV, Internet, direct response, print and point-of-purchase.

The new ads are basic and focus on differences between men and women. They feature a man and a woman standing in front of a white backdrop and talking about something that has nothing to do with incontinence. One features a discussion of whether men or women are better drivers. The campaign is the launch of gender-specific Depend.

Caregiving is taking its toll on their marriages, draining their bank accounts and increasing sibling squabbles as one-in-two baby boomers take care of an aging parent. According to new research from Caring.com, eighty percent (80%) of baby boomers caring for an aging parent say that it has put a strain on their marriage.
Financial pressure and job worries is increasing sibling squabbles over caregiving responsibilities as more turn to professional for help managing care, according to Dr. Dan Tobin, CEO of Your Support Nurse. Technology can help, but many boomers don't know what's available. They spend $300 a month on technology for themselves, but don't know about the technology that could cost just $50 per month to help a parent age at home more easily, according to Laurie Orlov, Aging in Place Technology Watch. What caregiving pressure means to businesses serving the baby boomer market will be one of the topics at the Boomers Business Simmit (www.boomersummit.com) March 19 in Las Vegas.
